hsbCAD show their steel
As timber frame design continues to push boundaries, the inclusion of steel beams and columns in buildings is becoming more commonplace. This can complicate the design, as most software products are limited to designing in one or the other. The majority of designers detail the timber frame model within their chosen software package while additional steel is detailed with the likes of 2D AutoCAD. All fabrication drawings and material takeoffs are then created manually. In most cases, this inefficient process cannot be costed as part of the overall project.
In response to this everyday problem, hsbCAD have integrated steel detailing with their existing offsite design solution, enabling the design of all timber frame and steelwork in one 3D model. Steel beam and purlin loads are automatically carried down within the model. hsbCAD allows the designer to fully detail all steel connections with automated placement of plates, notching of beams and positioning of drill holes. As with all standard hsbCAD tools, full fabrication drawings, material take off and CNC output is generated ensuring a fast turnaround.
The introduction of this steel feature brings major time saving benefits. Initial detailing or late modifications can be completed in shorter time frames without sacrificing the level of detail or complexity.
